Taiwan, a semi-tropical gem in East Asia, is rapidly evolving and exciting. Taiwan, is a dazzling island, with the shape that looks like a tobacco leaf, it covers 36,191 km², offers flat farmland on the west and soaring peaks on the east. With 258 mountains over 3,000 meters and stunning parks like Taroko and Yushan, it's no surprise Taiwan is known as Formosa, "the beautiful island."
Taiwan, with over 22 million people, is one of the world's most densely populated islands. Its diverse population includes indigenous groups, mainland Chinese descendants, and a mix of races, reflecting a rich history of intermarriage.

Taiwan’s warm weather year-round is perfect for travelers. Enjoy mild winters, stable summers, and a cozy average temperature of 22°C (72°F) in the north and 24°C (75°F) in the South.
Although the climate is classified as tropical, Kaohsiung has a defined cooler season unlike most other cities in Asia. Kaohsiung's warm climate is very much dictated by its low latitude and its exposure to warm sea temperatures year-round.
In rainy season (March to May), remember to always carry an umbrella during this drizzly weather. In summer time (June to August), keep an eye on weather reports for typhoons and avoid the rough coastal waves.
The New Taiwan dollar is the official currency of Taiwan, which is commonly abbreviated as NT$ or NTD$. The most commonly used denominations are the NTD$100, NTD$500, and NTD$1000. Also in Taiwan, coins are used in daily life.
